Tin Mine Canyon takes it’s name from small tin mines that once operated near Corona. While the opposite side of the Santa Ana Mountain Range was mined mainly for silver and coal, a brief tin mining boom started in 1877 in the northeastern part of the range, when tin was discovered near Trabuco Canyon.
